I’ve been conjuring, killing, and resurrecting chairs for a couple weeks now.
I imagined them to be as vibrant as the person for whom I am painting them. When she commissioned a piece, she simply requested “a chair.” But just a simple chair will not do for this artistic soul – no, it must be on the verge of leaping from the paper and dancing away. It has to be a magic chair, hinting at deeper layers of meaning.
Today, after painting four interpretations of one chair, I am ready to let these chairs meet their inspiration.
Below, Chair #1 emerges from oil-based ink through watercolor color fields and into acrylic texture and pattern:
Hi Colleen,
I love the progression photos!
Thank you for sharing snapshots of your journey along the pathway.
God’s best to you and yours,

Love to your family Joel! Thank you for taking the time to encourage me. I just realized that while I was subscribed to Shannon’s blog, I wasn’t receiving emails. I missed a lot! But, no more, I turned on the email function!

It’s fun to look back. Especially at the points where I was sure I killed it, then pressed through. Gives me a little boost of perseverance in other areas of life – you know what I mean!

I love your ability to look at a chair and see things so far beyond my range of sight… and then use your brush to let me see it too.

So cool, Bonnie! I’m planning to write about the “deeper meaning” (in honor of the person I painted them for) of these chairs in a blog post next week. But you already got it! Figures… I think we track! 🙂
